حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ شَدَّادٍ حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنٌ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ قَالَ قَدِمْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَرْبَعِ مِائَةٍ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَمْرِهِ فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لَنَا طَعَامٌ نَتَزَوَّدُهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِعُمَرَ زَوِّدْهُمْ فَقَالَ مَا عِنْدِي إِلَّا فَاضِلَةٌ مِنْ تَمْرٍ وَمَا أُرَاهَا تُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ انْطَلِقْ فَزَوِّدْهُمْ فَانْطَلَقَ بِنَا إِلَى عُلِّيَّةٍ لَهُ فَإِذَا فِيهَا تَمْرٌ مِثْلُ الْبَكْرِ الْأَوْرَقِ فَقَالَ خُذُوا فَأَخَذَ الْقَوْمُ حَاجَتَهُمْ قَالَ وَكُنْتُ أَنَا فِي آخِرِ الْقَوْمِ قَالَ فَالْتَفَتُّ وَمَا أَفْقِدُ مَوْضِعَ تَمْرَةٍ وَقَدْ احْتَمَلَ مِنْهُ أَرْبَعُ مِائَةِ رَجُلٍ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abd al-Samad told us: Harb -- that is, Ibn Shaddad -- told us: Husayn told us, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from al-Nu'man ibn Muqarrin, who said: We came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), four hundred of us from Muzaynah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed us in his matter. Some of the people said: "O Messenger of Allah, we have no food to provide ourselves for the journey." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Umar: "Provide for them." He said: "I have nothing but some leftover dates, and I do not think it will suffice them for anything." He said: "Go and provide for them." So he took us to an upper room of his, and there was dates like a grey camel in size, and he said: "Take." So the people took what they needed. He said: I was among the last of the people, and I looked and could not tell that even the space of a single date had been taken, though four hundred men had taken from it.
