حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ طَارِقٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ قَالَ كَانَ أَبِي مِمَّنْ بَايَعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ بَيْعَةَ الرِّضْوَانِ فَقَالَ انْطَلَقْنَا فِي قَابِلٍ حَاجِّينَ فَعُمِّيَ عَلَيْنَا مَكَانُهَا فَإِنْ كَانَتْ بَيَّنَتْ لَكُمْ فَأَنْتُمْ أَعْلَمُ.

Affan told us: Abu Awanah told us, from Tariq, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab, who said: My father was among those who gave the pledge of allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) under the tree, the Pledge of al-Ridwan. He said: We set out the following year on pilgrimage, and its location was obscured to us. So if it has been made clear to you, then you know better than we do.
