Abu Rahm al-Sam'i narrated that Abu Ayyub told him that the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stayed in the lower part of our house while I stayed in the upper room. Water was spilled in the upper room, so my wife Umm Ayyub and I got up with a blanket of ours, wiping up the water, fearing it would seep down onto the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Then I went down to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in a state of anxiety, and said, "O Messenger of Allah, it is not right that we be above you; move to the upper room." So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered his belongings moved - and his belongings were few. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you used to send me food, and I would look at it, and when I saw the mark of your fingers I would place my hand where you had placed yours. But this food that you sent me, I looked at it and did not find the mark of your fingers in it." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Yes, it has onion in it, and I disliked eating it because of the angel who comes to me. But you may eat it." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: I said to my father, "A man said that whoever prays two rak'ahs after Maghrib in the mosque, it does not suffice him unless he prays them in his house, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'This is among the prayers of the houses.'" He said, "Who said this?" I said, "Muhammad b. Abd al-Rahman." He said, "How well he spoke," or he said, "How well he related it."
