حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَابِرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَخِي أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ يَذْكُرُ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا سَتُفْتَحُ عَلَيْكُمْ الْأَمْصَارُ وَسَيَضْرِبُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ بُعُوثًا يُنْكِرُ الرَّجُلُ مِنْكُمْ الْبَعْثَ فَيَتَخَلَّصُ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ وَيَعْرِضُ نَفْسَهُ عَلَى الْقَبَائِلِ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَكْفِيهِ بَعْثَ كَذَا وَكَذَا أَلَا وَذَلِكَ الْأَجِيرُ إِلَى آخِرِ قَطْرَةٍ مِنْ دَمِهِ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ هُو ابْنُ بَرِّيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ سُلَيْمَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَابِرٍ الطَّائِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَخِي أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّهُ كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ يُخْبِرُهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَهُ.

Yazid ibn Abd Rabbihi narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Harb narrated to us, Abu Salamah narrated to me, from Yahya ibn Jabir, who said: I heard the nephew of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari relate from Abu Ayyub, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: The great cities will be conquered for you, and levies will be raised against you for military service, so that a man among you will dislike the levy, and he will free himself from his people and offer himself to the tribes, saying: Who will let me stand in for him regarding such-and-such a levy? Indeed, that one is a hired substitute until the last drop of his blood. Ali ibn Bahr — that is, Ibn Barri — narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Harb al-Khawlani narrated to us, Abu Salamah Sulayman narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Jabir al-Ta'i, the nephew of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari informed me: that Abu Ayyub wrote to him informing him that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he mentioned it.
