Sulayman ibn Harb told us: Hammad ibn Salama told us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from al-Hasan, from al-Ahnaf, who said: While I was circumambulating the House, a man of Banu Sulaym met me and said, "Shall I not give you good news?" I said, "Yes indeed." He said, "Do you remember when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me to your people, the Banu Sa'd, to call them to Islam?" I said, "You, by Allah, said nothing but good, and I heard nothing but good [about you]." He said: I returned and told the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, what you said, and he said: O Allah, forgive al-Ahnaf. He said: There is nothing I hope for more than that [prayer].
