Husayn ibn Muhammad told us: Sulayman ibn Qarm told us, from Ash'ath, from his paternal aunt Ruhm, from her paternal uncle Ubayda ibn Khalaf, who said: I came to Madina as a young man wearing a striped garment of mine, dragging it. A man came upon me and nudged me with a stick he had, then said, "Had you raised your garment, it would be more lasting and more pure." I turned and it was the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, it is only a striped garment." He said, "Even if it is a striped garment - do you not have an example in me?" I looked at his lower garment and it was above the ankles and below the calf muscle.
