حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَكِيمٍ أَخْبَرَنِي تَمِيمُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى بَنِي زَمْعَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ثِنْتَانِ مَنْ وَقَاهُ اللَّهُ شَرَّهُمَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَا تُخْبِرْنَا مَا هُمَا ثُمَّ قَالَ اثْنَانِ مَنْ وَقَاهُ اللَّهُ شَرَّهُمَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتْ الثَّالِثَةُ أَجْلَسَهُ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا تَرَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُرِيدُ يُبَشِّرُنَا فَتَمْنَعُهُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَتَّكِلَ النَّاسُ فَقَالَ ثِنْتَانِ مَنْ وَقَاهُ اللَّهُ شَرَّهُمَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ مَا بَيْنَ لَحْيَيْهِ وَمَا بَيْنَ رِجْلَيْهِ.

Ibn Numayr told us, from Uthman, that is Ibn Hakim: Tamim ibn Yazid, client of the tribe of Zam'ah, informed me, from a man among the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon to us one day and said: O people, there are two things - whoever Allah protects from their evil enters Paradise. A man from the Ansar stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah, will you not tell us what they are? He said again: There are two things - whoever Allah protects from their evil enters Paradise. When it happened a third time, the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, made him sit down and said: Do you see that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, wishes to give us good news, yet you prevent him? He said: I fear that the people will come to rely on it alone. Then he said: There are two things - whoever Allah protects from their evil enters Paradise - what is between his two jaws and what is between his two legs.
