Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham and Abu Ahmad told us, both saying: Sufyan told us, from Alqamah ibn Marthad, from Sulayman ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to teach them what to say when they went out to the graves. One of them would say: Peace be upon you, O inhabitants of these abodes, among the believers and Muslims. Mu'awiyah said in his version: We shall, if Allah wills, join you; you have gone ahead of us and we shall follow you, and we ask Allah for well-being for us and for you.
