حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَلِيلِ قَالَ انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى حَلْقَةٍ فِيهَا أَبُو مِجْلَزٍ وَابْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي بُرَيْدَةُ قَالَ أَبْغَضْتُ عَلِيًّا بُغْضًا لَمْ يُبْغَضْهُ أَحَدٌ قَطُّ قَالَ وَأَحْبَبْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ لَمْ أُحِبَّهُ إِلَّا عَلَى بُغْضِهِ عَلِيًّا قَالَ فَبُعِثَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خَيْلٍ فَصَحِبْتُهُ مَا أَصْحَبُهُ إِلَّا عَلَى بُغْضِهِ عَلِيًّا قَالَ فَأَصَبْنَا سَبْيًا قَالَ فَكَتَبَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ابْعَثْ إِلَيْنَا مَنْ يُخَمِّسُهُ قَالَ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا عَلِيًّا وَفِي السَّبْيِ وَصِيفَةٌ هِيَ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ السَّبْيِ فَخَمَّسَ وَقَسَمَ فَخَرَجَ رَأْسُهُ مُغَطًّى فَقُلْنَا يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ مَا هَذَا قَالَ أَلَمْ تَرَوْا إِلَى الْوَصِيفَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ فِي السَّبْيِ فَإِنِّي قَسَمْتُ وَخَمَّسْتُ فَصَارَتْ فِي الْخُمُسِ ثُمَّ صَارَتْ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ صَارَتْ فِي آلِ عَلِيٍّ وَوَقَعْتُ بِهَا قَالَ فَكَتَبَ الرَّجُلُ إِلَى نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ ابْعَثْنِي فَبَعَثَنِي مُصَدِّقًا قَالَ فَجَعَلْتُ أَقْرَأُ الْكِتَابَ وَأَقُولُ صَدَقَ قَالَ فَأَمْسَكَ يَدِي وَالْكِتَابَ وَقَالَ أَتُبْغِضُ عَلِيًّا قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَلَا تَبْغَضْهُ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تُحِبُّهُ فَازْدَدْ لَهُ حُبًّا فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَنَصِيبُ آلِ عَلِيٍّ فِي الْخُمُسِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ وَصِيفَةٍ قَالَ فَمَا كَانَ مِنْ النَّاسِ أَحَدٌ بَعْدَ قَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَوَالَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ مَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ غَيْرُ أَبِي بُرَيْدَةَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us: 'Abd al-Jalil narrated to us, he said: I came to a gathering in which were Abu Mijlaz and Ibn Buraydah. 'Abdullah ibn Buraydah said: My father Buraydah narrated to me, saying: I hated 'Ali with a hatred that no one has ever hated [anyone else] with. And I loved a man from Quraysh, whom I loved for no reason other than his hatred of 'Ali. He said: That man was sent out in command of a cavalry force, and I accompanied him, accompanying him for no reason other than my hatred of 'Ali. He said: We took some captives. He said: So he wrote to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, [saying], 'Send to us someone to divide the fifth-share.' He said: So he sent 'Ali to us. Among the captives was a slave-girl who was the best of the captives. He set aside the fifth-share and distributed the rest, then came out with his head covered. We said, 'O Abu al-Hasan, what is this?' He said, 'Did you not see the slave-girl who was among the captives? I distributed [the captives] and set aside the fifth, and she fell within the fifth-share; then she became part of the household of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him; then she became part of the family of 'Ali, and I had relations with her.' He said: So the man wrote to the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, [reporting this], and I said, 'Send me [with the report].' So he sent me as the one to deliver it. He said: I began reading out the letter, saying, 'He has spoken the truth.' He said: So he took hold of my hand and the letter, and said, 'Do you hate 'Ali?' He said: I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Do not hate him — and if you [already] love him, then increase in love for him. For by the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the share of the family of 'Ali in the fifth-share is better than a slave-girl.' He said: And there was no one among the people, after the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, more beloved to me than 'Ali. 'Abdullah said: And by Him besides Whom there is no god, there is nothing between me and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in this hadith except my father Buraydah.
