حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَهْرَامَ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ لِقَوْمِهِ أَلَا أُصَلِّي لَكُمْ صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَفَّ الرِّجَالُ ثُمَّ صَفَّ الْوِلْدَانُ خَلْفَ الرِّجَالِ ثُمَّ صَفَّ النِّسَاءُ خَلْفَ الْوِلْدَانِ.

Waki' narrated to us: 'Abd al-Hamid ibn Bahram narrated to me, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanm, who said: Abu Malik al-Ash'ari said to his people: 'Shall I not pray for you the prayer of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?' So the men lined up, then the children lined up behind the men, then the women lined up behind the children.
