Ya'mar ibn Bishr told us: 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak told us: Rishdin ibn Sa'd informed us: Abu Hani' al-Khawlani told me, from 'Amr ibn Malik al-Janbi, that Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd and 'Ubadah ibn as-Samit told him that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: On the Day of Resurrection, when God the Exalted has finished judging His creation, two men will remain, and they will be ordered to the Fire. One of them will turn back, and the Almighty, Exalted is He, will say: Bring him back. So they will bring him back, and He will say to him: Why did you turn back? He will say: I was hoping You would admit me to Paradise. So He will order him to Paradise, and he will say: God, Mighty and Majestic, has given me so much that if I fed all the people of Paradise it would not diminish what I have in the slightest. The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, would be seen to smile with joy whenever he mentioned this.
