Mu'awiyah ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Za'idah narrated to us, 'Asim narrated to us, from Zirr, from 'Abdullah, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed - Ibrahim said: I do not know whether he added or subtracted - so when he gave the salam, it was said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, has something new happened regarding the prayer?' He said: 'What is that?' They said: 'You prayed such and such.' So he folded his legs, faced the qiblah, and made two prostrations, then gave the salam. Then he turned his face toward us and said: 'If something new had happened regarding the prayer, I would have informed you. But I am only a human being; I forget as you forget. So when I forget, remind me. And when one of you is uncertain in his prayer, let him estimate the correct amount and complete it accordingly. Then let him give the salam and make two prostrations.'
