Abu al-Mughira narrated to us: Isma'il ibn Ayyash narrated to us: Shurahbil ibn Muslim al-Khawlani narrated to us, who said: I heard Abu Umama al-Bahili saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in his sermon in the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage, say: "Allah has given every rightful person his due; there is no bequest for an heir; the child belongs to the marriage-bed, and for the adulterer is disappointment; their reckoning is upon Allah. Whoever claims descent from other than his father, or affiliates himself to other than his patrons, upon him is the curse of Allah, following him to the Day of Resurrection. A woman may not spend anything from her husband's house except with his permission." It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, not even food?" He said, "That is the best of our wealth." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The borrowed item is to be returned, the loan-gift is to be returned, the debt is to be paid, and the guarantor is liable." Abdullah narrated to us: Yahya ibn Ma'in narrated to me: Isma'il ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Shurahbil, from Abu Umama, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The guarantor is liable."
