الترجمة الإنجليزية
Rawh narrated to us, from Hisham, from Wasil the freed slave of Abu Uyaynah, from Muhammad ibn Abi Yaqub, from Raja ibn Haywah, from Abu Umamah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, launched a military campaign, so I came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to grant me martyrdom.' He said, 'O Allah, keep them safe and grant them spoils.' He said: So we were kept safe and we gained spoils. He said: Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, launched a second campaign, so I came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to grant me martyrdom.' He said, 'O Allah, keep them safe and grant them spoils.' He said: Then he launched a third campaign, so I came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have come to you twice before this time of mine, and I asked you to ask Allah to grant me martyrdom, and you asked Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, to keep us safe and grant us spoils, and so we were kept safe and gained spoils. O Messenger of Allah, so ask Allah to grant me martyrdom.' He said, 'O Allah, keep them safe and grant them spoils.' He said: So we were kept safe and gained spoils. Then I came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, command me with a deed.' He said, 'You must fast, for there is nothing equal to it.' He said: So Abu Umamah was never seen, nor his wife, nor his servant, except fasting. He said: So when smoke was seen in their house during the daytime, it was said, 'A guest has come to them,' or 'A visitor has descended upon them.' He said: He remained thus for as long as Allah willed. Then I came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you commanded us to fast, and I hope that Allah has blessed us in it. O Messenger of Allah, so command me with another deed.' He said, 'Know that you will not make a single prostration to Allah but that Allah will raise you by it a degree and remove from you by it a sin.' Rawh narrated to us: Mahdi ibn Maymun narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Abi Yaqub narrated to us, from Raja ibn Haywah, from Abu Umamah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, launched a campaign, so I came to him, and he mentioned its meaning, except that he said, 'Command me with a deed I may take from you by which Allah may benefit me.' He said, 'You must fast.' Abdullah narrated to us: Fitr ibn Hammad ibn Waqid narrated to us: Mahdi ibn Maymun narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Yaqub, from Raja ibn Haywah, from Abu Umamah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, the like of it or something similar to it.
