Abdullah narrated to us: My father narrated to me: Surayj narrated to us: al-Hakam ibn Abd al-Malik narrated to us, from Ammar ibn Muhammad al-Absi, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Muadh, who said: While the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was on one of his journeys, he heard a caller saying, 'Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest.' He said, 'Upon the natural disposition.' Then the caller said, 'I testify that there is no god but Allah.' He said, 'He has borne witness with the testimony of truth.' The caller said, 'I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'He has come out of the Fire. Look, for you will find him to be either a shepherd out with his flock or a man out hunting with his dogs.' So they looked for him and found him to be a shepherd for whom the time of prayer had come, and he had called it.
