Abdullah told us, my father told me, Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri told us, Masarrah ibn Ma'bad told us, from Isma'il ibn Ubaydullah, who said: Mu'adh ibn Jabal said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "You will emigrate to Syria and it will be opened for you, and among you there will be a disease like a boil or like burning heat, taking hold of a man's soft parts, by which Allah makes their souls martyrs and purifies their deeds. O Allah, if You know that Mu'adh ibn Jabal has heard this from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, then grant him and his household the fullest share of it." So the plague struck them, and none of them remained. Then he himself was afflicted in his index finger and used to say, "I would not be pleased to have red camels in exchange for it."
