حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ مُعَاذٍ قَالَ بَعَثَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ وَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ آخُذَ مِنْ كُلِّ حَالِمٍ دِينَارًا أَوْ عِدْلَهُ مَعَافِرَ وَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ آخُذَ مِنْ كُلِّ أَرْبَعِينَ بَقَرَةً مُسِنَّةً وَمِنْ كُلِّ ثَلَاثِينَ بَقَرَةً تَبِيعًا حَوْلِيًّا وَأَمَرَنِي فِيمَا سَقَتْ السَّمَاءُ الْعُشْرَ وَمَا سُقِيَ بِالدَّوَالِي نِصْفَ الْعُشْرِ.

Sulayman ibn Dawud al-Hashimi told us, Abu Bakr — namely Ibn Ayyash — told us, Asim told us, from Abu Wa'il, from Mu'adh, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me to Yemen and commanded me to take from every adult a dinar or its equivalent in Ma'afir cloth, and commanded me to take from every forty head of cattle a two-year-old cow, and from every thirty head of cattle a one-year-old calf, and he commanded me, regarding whatever the sky watered, to take a tenth, and whatever was watered by irrigation buckets, half a tenth.
