Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us: Salim -- meaning Ibn Abi Hafsah -- narrated to us, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from Abu Dharr, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: "O Abu Dharr, what mountain is this?" I said: "Uhud, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, it would not please me to have it turned into gold pieces which I spend in the way of Allah, while I leave behind of it even a qirat (a small measure)." I said: "A qintar (a large measure), O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "A qirat" -- he said it three times -- then he said: "O Abu Dharr, I only mention the lesser amount, not the greater."
