Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us: I heard Abu Ishaq say that he heard Abdullah ibn Abi Basir relate from Ubayy ibn Ka'b that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed the dawn prayer and said: "Is so-and-so present?" They said: "No." He said: "Is so-and-so present?" They said: "No." He said: "Is so-and-so present?" They said: "No." He said: "These two prayers are among the heaviest prayers upon the hypocrites. If they knew what is in them, they would come to them even if they had to crawl. And the front row is like the row of the angels. If you knew its merit, you would race to it. A man's prayer with two others is more pure than his prayer with one man, and whatever is more numerous is more beloved to Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He."
