Ubaydullah ibn Mu'adh ibn al-Anbari narrated to us: al-Mu'tamir narrated to us, he said: My father, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Abu Uthman narrated to us, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, who said: There was a man — I do not know among the people, among the inhabitants of Medina, among those who pray toward the qiblah, anyone whose house was farther from the mosque than his. He said: Yet he used to attend all the prayers with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. So I said to him, "If only you would buy a donkey to ride on in the heat of the ground and the darkness." He said: "By Allah, it would not please me that my house should be attached to the mosque of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him." He said: So I informed the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he asked him about that, and he said, "O Prophet of Allah, so that my footsteps, and my return to my family, and my coming to it may be recorded." He said: "Allah has granted you all of that," or "given you what you sought reward for, altogether," or as he said.
