Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from al-Taymi, from Abu Uthman, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, who said: There was a man in Medina — I do not know any man who had a dwelling, or he said a house, farther from the mosque than his — and it was said to him, "If only you would buy a donkey to ride on in the heat of the ground and the darkness." He said: "It would not please me for my house — or he said, my dwelling — to be next to the mosque." So the report reached the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: "What did you mean by your saying, 'It would not please me for my dwelling — or my house — to be next to the mosque'?" He said: "I intended that my coming, when I set out, and my returning, when I return to my family, be recorded." He said: "Allah, Exalted is He, has given you all of that," or "Allah has granted you what you sought reward for, altogether," or "Allah, Exalted is He, has granted you all of that, all that you sought reward for."
