حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ أُبَيٍّ قَالَ لَقِيَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام عِنْدَ أَحْجَارِ الْمِرَاءِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِجِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام إِنِّي بُعِثْتُ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ أُمِّيِّينَ فِيهِمْ الشَّيْخُ الْعَاصِي وَالْعَجُوزَةُ الْكَبِيرَةُ وَالْغُلَامُ قَالَ فَمُرْهُمْ فَلْيَقْرَءُوا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ أُبَيٍّ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ وَقَالَ حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ لَقِيَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام عِنْدَ أَحْجَارِ الْمِرَاءِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.

Husayn ibn Ali al-Ju'fi narrated to us, from Za'idah, from Asim, from Zirr, from Ubayy, who said: Gabriel, peace be upon him, met the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, at the Stones of al-Mira'. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Gabriel, peace be upon him: "I have been sent to an unlettered nation, among whom are the disobedient old man, the very old woman, and the young boy." He said: "Then command them to recite the Qur'an according to seven modes." Abu Sa'id, the freedman of Banu Hashim, narrated to us: Za'idah narrated to us: Asim narrated to us, from Zirr, from Ubayy. Abu Sa'id said: And Hammad ibn Salamah said, from Hudhayfah, who said: Gabriel, peace be upon him, met the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, at the Stones of al-Mira', and he related the account.
