حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ بُجْدَانَ عَنْ أَبِي زَيْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِ دِيَارِنَا فَوَجَدَ قُتَارًا فَقَالَ مَنْ هَذَا الَّذِي ذَبَحَ قَالَ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِنَّا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ هَذَا يَوْمٌ الطَّعَامُ فِيهِ كَرِيهٌ فَذَبَحْتُ لِآكُلَ وَأُطْعِمَ جِيرَانِي قَالَ فَأَعِدْ قَالَ لَا وَالَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ مَا عِنْدِي إِلَّا جَذَعٌ مِنْ الضَّأْنِ أَوْ حَمَلٌ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ قَالَ فَاذْبَحْهَا وَلَا تُجْزِئُ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ.

Abu Zayd al-Ansari said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) passed through our dwellings and smelled the aroma of cooking. He said: 'Who is this who has slaughtered?' A man from among us came out and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, today is a day when food is scarce, so I slaughtered to eat and feed my neighbors.' He said: 'Offer another one.' He said: 'By the One besides Whom there is no god, I do not have another.'
