حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ تَغْلِبَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَاهُ شَيْءٌ فَأَعْطَاهُ نَاسًا وَتَرَكَ نَاسًا وَقَالَ جَرِيرٌ أَعْطَى رِجَالًا وَتَرَكَ رِجَالًا قَالَ فَبَلَغَهُ عَنْ الَّذِينَ تَرَكَ أَنَّهُمْ عَتِبُوا وَقَالُوا قَالَ فَصَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنِّي أُعْطِي نَاسًا وَأَدَعُ نَاسًا وَأُعْطِي رِجَالًا وَأَدَعُ رِجَالًا قَالَ عَفَّانُ قَالَ ذِي وَذِي وَالَّذِي أَدَعُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ الَّذِي أُعْطِي أُعْطِي أُنَاسًا لِمَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مِنْ الْجَزَعِ وَالْهَلَعِ وَأَكِلُ قَوْمًا إِلَى مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مِنْ الْغِنَى وَالْخَيْرِ مِنْهُمْ عَمْرُو بْنُ تَغْلِبَ قَالَ وَكُنْتُ جَالِسًا تِلْقَاءَ وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي بِكَلِمَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حُمْرَ النَّعَمِ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Amr ibn Taghlib narrated that something came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), so he gave it to some people and left out others. He was told that those he left out were upset and spoke about it. So he ascended the pulpit, praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: 'I give to some people and leave others. Those I leave are dearer to me than those I give to. I give to some people because of the anxiety and impatience in their hearts, and I entrust others to what Allah has placed in their hearts of contentment and goodness, among them Amr ibn Taghlib.' Amr said: 'I would not love to have red camels in exchange for the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).'
