Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, 'Uthman ibn Ghiyath told us, he said: I heard Abu al-Salil say: There was a man among the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who used to narrate to the people until it became too much for him, so he would climb up onto the roof of a house and narrate to the people. He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Which verse in the Qur'an is the greatest?" A man said, "Allah -- there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all." He said: he then placed his hand between my shoulders, and I felt its coolness between my breasts -- or he said he placed his hand between my breasts and I felt its coolness between my shoulders -- and he said, "May knowledge be pleasant for you, O Abu al-Mundhir; knowledge, knowledge!"
