حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَيَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْمُغِيرَةَ الْأَزْدِيَّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ حَيَّانَ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ قَالَ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْبَحْرَيْنِ أَوْ أَهْلِ هَجَرَ شَكَّ أَبُو حَمْزَةَ قَالَ وَكُنْتُ آتِي الْحَائِطَ يَكُونُ بَيْنَ الْإِخْوَةِ فَيُسْلِمُ أَحَدُهُمْ فَآخُذُ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِ الْعُشْرَ وَمِنْ الْآخَرِ الْخَرَاجَ.

Abdullah told us, my father and Yahya ibn Ma'in told me - they said: Attab ibn Ziyad told us, Abu Hamzah told us, he said: I heard al-Mughirah al-Azdi, from Muhammad ibn Zayd, from Hayyan al-A'raj, from al-Ala' ibn al-Hadrami, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me to Bahrain, or to the people of Hajar - Abu Hamzah was uncertain - he said: And I used to go to the enclosure shared between brothers, and one of them would become Muslim, so I would take from the Muslim the tithe, and from the other the tax.
