Affan told us, Hammad ibn Salamah told us, Ali ibn Zayd informed us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakrah, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The parents of the Dajjal will remain thirty years without a child being born to them, then a boy will be born to them, the most harmful of things and the least beneficial; his eyes sleep but his heart does not sleep." Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, described his father, saying: "His father is a tall man, spare of flesh, as if his nose were a beak, and his mother is a large-breasted woman, long of breasts." Abu Bakrah said: "We then heard of a child born among the Jews in Medina, so I and al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam went and entered upon his parents, and there was the description given by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, matching them exactly. So we said: 'Do you have a child?' They said: 'We remained thirty years without a child being born to us, then a boy was born to us, one-eyed, the most harmful of things and the least beneficial; his eyes sleep but his heart does not sleep.' So we left them, and there was the boy, stretched out wrapped in a cloak in the sun, murmuring. I uncovered his head and he said: 'What did you two say?' We said: 'Did you hear?' He said: 'Yes, indeed my eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep.'" Hammad said: "And he was Ibn Sayyad."
