He said: So he fell silent until we thought he would name it by another name. He said: "Is this not Dhul-Hijjah?" We said: "Yes indeed." He said: "What land is this?" We said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: So he fell silent until we thought he would name it by another name. He said: "Is this not the sacred town?" We said: "Yes indeed." He said: "Then indeed your blood and your wealth are sacred to you, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this town of yours, until the day you meet your Lord, Blessed and Exalted. Have I not conveyed it?" They said: "Yes." He said: "O Allah, bear witness. Let the one present convey it to the one absent, for perhaps one who is informed may retain it better than one who has heard directly. Do not revert after me to being disbelievers, striking one another's necks."
