حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ وَيَزِيدُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ عَنِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ يَزِيدُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَ خَرَجْتُ مِنْ أَهْلِي أُرِيدُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِهِ قَائِمٌ وَرَجُلٌ مَعَهُ مُقْبِلٌ عَلَيْهِ فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ لَهُمَا حَاجَةً قَالَ فَقَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى جَعَلْتُ أَرْثِي لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ طُولِ الْقِيَامِ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ قَامَ بِكَ الرَّجُلُ حَتَّى جَعَلْتُ أَرْثِي لَكَ مِنْ طُولِ الْقِيَامِ قَالَ وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَتَدْرِي مَنْ هُوَ قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ ذَاكَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام مَا زَالَ يُوصِينِي بِالْجَارِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيُوَرِّثُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوْ سَلَّمْتَ عَلَيْهِ رَدَّ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Hisham and Yazid told us - Yazid said: Hisham informed us, from Hafsah, from Abu al-Aliyah, from al-Ansari - Yazid said: "from a man of the Ansar" - who said: I set out from my family intending [to visit] the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and there I found him standing, with a man facing him, and I thought they had some business [together]. The Ansari said: "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) remained standing until I began to feel pity for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) because of the length of the standing." When he finished, I said: "O Messenger of Allah, this man kept you standing until I began to feel pity for you because of the length of the standing." He said: "Did you indeed see him?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Do you know who he was?" I said: "No." He said: "That was Gabriel, peace be upon him; he did not cease enjoining upon me [kindness toward] the neighbor, until I thought he would make him an heir." Then he said: "Indeed, had you greeted him with peace, he would have returned the greeting to you."
