الترجمة الإنجليزية
[In] the year two hundred twenty-eight, Waki' told us: Mis'ar ibn Habib al-Jarmi told us: Amr ibn Salamah told me, from his father, that they came as a delegation to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and when they wished to depart, they said: "O Messenger of Allah, who shall lead us in prayer?" He said: "Whoever among you has gathered the most of the Qur'an, or memorized the most of it." He said: So there was no one among the people who had memorized as much of the Qur'an as I had. He said: So they put me forward, though I was a young boy, and I led them in prayer, wearing a single cloak of mine. He said: I have not attended a gathering of [the tribe of] Jarm without being their imam, and I lead the funeral prayers over them, to this very day.
