حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا أَنْكَحَ الْوَلِيَّانِ فَهُوَ لِلْأَوَّلِ مِنْهُمَا وَإِذَا بَاعَ بَيْعًا مِنْ رَجُلَيْنِ فَهُوَ لِلْأَوَّلِ مِنْهُمَا.

Abu Qatan told us, Hisham told us, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, from Samurah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: If two guardians give a woman in marriage, it belongs to the first of the two; and if one sells a sale to two men, it belongs to the first of the two.
