Yazid told us: Hammad ibn Salamah informed us, from Thabit al-Bunani, who said: Someone who heard Hittan ibn Abdullah narrating told me, from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, who said: I said to a man, "Come, let us devote this day of ours to Allah, Mighty and Majestic." By Allah, it was as if the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, were witnessing this very day, for he had given a sermon and said, "And among them is one who says, 'Come, let us devote this day of ours to Allah, Mighty and Majestic.'" He kept repeating it until I wished the earth would swallow me up.
