حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ قَابُوسَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ آخِرُ شِدَّةٍ يَلْقَاهَا الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمَوْتُ وَفِي قَوْلِهِ { يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاءُ كَالْمُهْلِ } قَالَ كَدُرْدِيِّ الزَّيْتِ وَفِي قَوْلِهِ { آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ } قَالَ جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ وَقَالَ هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا ذَهَابُ الْعِلْمِ قَالَ هُوَ ذَهَابُ الْعُلَمَاءِ مِنْ الْأَرْضِ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
The last hardship that a believer faces is death. Regarding the verse "The Day the sky will be like molten brass," he said it means like the dregs of oil. Regarding "the hours of the night," he said it means the middle of the night. And he said: "Do you know what the disappearance of knowledge means? It is the departure of the scholars from the earth."
