Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Asim - that is, al-Ahwal - from Abu Uthman, from Abu Musa, who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on a journey, and we came upon a valley, overlooking it - he mentioned something of its terror - and the people began saying takbir and tahlil. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O people, be gentle with yourselves" - but they raised their voices - so he said: "O people, you are not calling upon one who is deaf or absent; He is with you."
