قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو وَكِيعٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى هَذِهِ الْأَعْوَادِ أَوْ عَلَى هَذَا الْمِنْبَرِ مَنْ لَمْ يَشْكُرْ الْقَلِيلَ لَمْ يَشْكُرْ الْكَثِيرَ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَشْكُرْ النَّاسَ لَمْ يَشْكُرْ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَالتَّحَدُّثُ بِنِعْمَةِ اللَّهِ شُكْرٌ وَتَرْكُهَا كُفْرٌ وَالْجَمَاعَةُ رَحْمَةٌ وَالْفُرْقَةُ عَذَابٌ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيُّ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالسَّوَادِ الْأَعْظَمِ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مَا السَّوَادُ الْأَعْظَمُ فَنَادَى أَبُو أُمَامَةَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ الَّتِي فِي سُورَةِ النُّورِ { فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْهِ مَا حُمِّلَ وَعَلَيْكُمْ مَا حُمِّلْتُمْ }.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abd Allah said: Yahya ibn Abd Rabbihi, the client of Banu Hashim, narrated to me: Abu Waki’ narrated to us, from Abu Abd al-Rahman, from al-Sha’bi, from al-Nu’man ibn Bashir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said upon this platform — or upon this pulpit: "Whoever does not thank for the little will not thank for the much, and whoever does not thank the people has not thanked Allah, Mighty and Sublime. Speaking of Allah’s blessing is gratitude, and abandoning it is ingratitude. Unity is mercy, and division is punishment." Then Abu Umamah al-Bahili said, "Hold fast to the great majority." A man asked, "What is the great majority?" So Abu Umamah called out this verse which is in Surat al-Nur: "But if they turn away, then upon him is only what he was charged with, and upon you is what you were charged with."
