حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ خَالِدٍ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ الْخَفَّافِ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَيْفَ أَنْعَمُ وَصَاحِبُ الْقَرْنِ قَدْ الْتَقَمَ الْقَرْنَ وَحَنَى جَبْهَتَهُ وَأَصْغَى السَّمْعَ مَتَى يُؤْمَرُ قَالَ فَسَمِعَ ذَلِكَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَشَقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُولُوا حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ.

Muhammad ibn Rabi'ah told us, from Khalid Abu al-Ala' al-Khaffaf, from Atiyyah, from Zayd ibn Arqam, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: How can I feel at ease when the one holding the trumpet has already put it to his lips, bent his brow, and inclined his ear, waiting for when he will be commanded? He said: The Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, heard that, and it distressed them, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Say, Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Guardian. Abu Ahmad told us: Khalid ibn Tahman Abu al-Ala' told us, from Atiyyah al-Awfi, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said — and he mentioned its meaning.
