حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ مَطَرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ قَالَ شَكَّ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ فِي الْحَوْضِ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ الْحَوْضِ فَحَدَّثَهُ حَدِيثًا مُوَنَّقًا أَعْجَبَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا وَلَكِنْ حَدَّثَنِيهِ أَخِي.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abd al-Razzaq told us: Ma'mar informed us, from Matar, from Abdullah ibn Buraydah, who said: Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad doubted the existence of the Basin, so he sent for Zayd ibn Arqam and asked him about the Basin. He narrated a beautifully arranged account to him that pleased him, so he said to him: Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him? He said: No, but my brother narrated it to me.
