حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ وَقَالَ مُوسَى بْنُ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يَقُولُ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ كَانَ إِذَا نَزَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُرْآنٌ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَحْفَظَهُ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْآنَهُ فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ }.

Ibn 'Abbas said: When the Quran was being revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him), he would move his tongue trying to memorize it quickly. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed: "Do not move your tongue with it to hasten with it. Indeed, upon Us is its collection and its recitation. So when We recite it, follow its recitation."
