الترجمة الإنجليزية
Ibn Numayr told us: Abd al-Malik — that is Ibn Abi Sulayman — told us, from Atiyyah al-Awfi, who said: I asked Zayd ibn Arqam and said to him: A son-in-law of mine told me a hadith from you concerning the matter of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, on the day of Ghadir Khumm, and I would love to hear it from you. He said: You people of Iraq — you have what you have [i.e., certain tendencies]. I said to him: There is no harm from me toward you. He said: Yes. We were at al-Juhfah, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to us at noon, holding the upper arm of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, and said: O people, do you not know that I am closer to the believers than their own selves? They said: Yes indeed. He said: Whoever's master I am, then Ali is his master. I said to him: Did he say, O Allah, take as an ally whoever allies with him, and be an enemy of whoever opposes him? He said: I am only informing you as I heard it.
