Abu Mu'awiya told us: al-A'mash told us, from Muslim - that is Ibn Subayh - from Abd al-Rahman ibn Hilal al-Absi, from Jarir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon to us and urged us to give charity, but the people were slow, until anger was seen on his face - and he said another time, "until it was evident." Then a man from the Ansar came with a purse and gave it to him, then the people followed one after another and gave, until joy was seen on his face. He said, "Whoever introduces a good practice will have its reward and the like of the reward of whoever acts upon it, without anything being diminished from their rewards; and whoever introduces an evil practice will bear its burden and the like of the burden of whoever acts upon it, without anything being diminished from their burdens." He said another time - meaning Abu Mu'awiya - "without anything being diminished."
