Sufyan told us, from Asim ibn Abi al-Najud, from Abu Wa'il, from Jarir: that a group of Bedouin came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wrapped in striped cloaks, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, urged the people to give charity, but they were slow, until that was seen on his face. Then a man from the Ansar came with a piece of gold ore and threw it down, and the people followed one after another until that was seen to change on his face. He said, "Whoever introduces a good practice that is acted upon after him will have its reward and the like of the reward of whoever acts upon it, without anything being diminished from their rewards; and whoever introduces an evil practice that is acted upon after him will bear its burden and the burden of whoever acts upon it, without that diminishing anything from their burdens."
