Yahya and Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, they said: Shu'bah told us, he said: Talhah ibn Musarrif told us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awsajah, from al-Bara' ibn 'Azib - Ibn Ja'far said: Shu'bah told us, he said: I heard Talhah al-Yami say: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awsajah say: I heard al-Bara' ibn 'Azib narrating from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: Whoever gives a loan of silver, or guides someone along a road, or gives milk to drink, will have the reward equal to freeing a slave. And whoever says, There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner; His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He has power over all things, ten times, will have the reward equal to freeing a slave. And he used to come to us when we stood for prayer, wiping our chests or our shoulders, saying: Do not let your rows be uneven, lest your hearts become divided. And he used to say: Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings upon the first row, or the front rows. And he said: Beautify the Qur'an with your voices. I had forgotten this, but al-Dahhak ibn Muzahim reminded me of it.
