Abdul-Wahhab al-Thaqafi narrated to us: Ayyub narrated to us, from Abu Qilabah, from al-Nu'man ibn Bashir, who said: The sun was eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, so he went out and prayed two rak'ahs and supplicated, then prayed two rak'ahs and supplicated, until it cleared. Then he said: Some men claim that when the sun or moon is eclipsed, it is eclipsed for the death of a great one among the great ones, but that is not so - rather they are two creations among the creations of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and when Allah, Mighty and Majestic, manifests Himself to something of His creation, it becomes humbled before Him.
