Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi told us, from Mu'awiyah ibn Salih, from Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, who said: I heard Wabisah ibn Ma'bad, a Companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to ask him about righteousness and sin. He said, "You have come to ask about righteousness and sin?" I said, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I came to ask you about nothing else." He said, "Righteousness is that which puts your heart at ease, and sin is that which wavers in your breast, even if people give you a ruling about it."
