حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ قَالَ ثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ قَالَ ثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سُمَيٍّ أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الْإِسْلَامَ يَجُبُّ مَا كَانَ قَبْلَهُ وَإِنَّ الْهِجْرَةَ تَجُبُّ مَا كَانَ قَبْلَهَا قَالَ عَمْرٌو فَوَاللَّهِ إِنْ كُنْتُ لَأَشَدَّ النَّاسِ حَيَاءً مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَا مَلَأْتُ عَيْنِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَا رَاجَعْتُهُ بِمَا أُرِيدُ حَتَّى لَحِقَ بِاللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ حَيَاءً مِنْهُ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Hasan narrated to us, he said: Ibn Lahi'a narrated to us, he said: Yazid ibn Abi Habib narrated to us, he said: Suwayd ibn Qays informed me, from Qays ibn Sumayy, that Amr ibn al-'As said: I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I pledge allegiance to you on condition that you forgive me my past sins.' The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Indeed Islam wipes out what came before it, and indeed emigration wipes out what came before it.' Amr said: By Allah, I was among the people most shy before the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him — I never filled my eyes looking at the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, nor did I ever raise with him again what I wished to ask, until he met Allah, Mighty and Sublime, out of shyness before him.
