Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: I found this hadith in my father's book, in his own handwriting: al-Rabi' b. Nafi' Abu Tawba wrote it to me, and it was in his book: al-Haytham b. Humayd told us, from Zayd b. Waqid, from Sulayman b. Musa, from Kathir b. Murra, from 'Uqba b. 'Amir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who recites the Qur'an silently is like the one who gives charity silently, and the one who recites the Qur'an aloud is like the one who gives charity openly."
