حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ بِمِصْرَ يَقُولُ مَا أَبْعَدَ هَدْيَكُمْ مِنْ هَدْيِ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَّا هُوَ فَكَانَ أَزْهَدَ النَّاسِ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَأَرْغَبُ النَّاسِ فِيهَا.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abdullah ibn Yazid told us, he said: Musa told us, he said: I heard my father say: I heard Amr ibn al-As give a sermon to the people in Egypt, saying, "How far your way is from the way of your Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him! As for him, he was the most ascetic of people regarding this world, while as for you, you are the most desirous of people for it."
