حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اكْتُبْ لِي بِأَرْضِ كَذَا وَكَذَا بِأَرْضِ الشَّامِ لَمْ يَظْهَرْ عَلَيْهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَئِذٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَا تَسْمَعُونَ إِلَى مَا يَقُولُ هَذَا فَقَالَ أَبُو ثَعْلَبَةَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَتَظْهَرُنَّ عَلَيْهَا قَالَ فَكَتَبَ لَهُ بِهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَرْضَنَا أَرْضُ صَيْدٍ فَأُرْسِلُ كَلْبِيَ الْمُكَلَّبَ وَكَلْبِيَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ بِمُكَلَّبٍ قَالَ إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ الْمُكَلَّبَ وَسَمَّيْتَ فَكُلْ مَا أَمْسَكَ عَلَيْكَ كَلْبُكَ الْمُكَلَّبُ وَإِنْ قَتَلَ وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ بِمُكَلَّبٍ فَأَدْرَكْتَ ذَكَاتَهُ فَكُلْ وَكُلْ مَا رَدَّ عَلَيْكَ سَهْمُكَ وَإِنْ قَتَلَ وَسَمِّ اللَّهَ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَرْضَنَا أَرْضُ أَهْلِ كِتَابٍ وَإِنَّهُمْ يَأْكُلُونَ لَحْمَ الْخِنْزِيرِ وَيَشْرَبُونَ الْخَمْرَ فَكَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ بِآنِيَتِهِمْ وَقُدُورِهِمْ قَالَ إِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا غَيْرَهَا فَارْحَضُوهَا وَاطْبُخُوا فِيهَا وَاشْرَبُوا قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا يَحِلُّ لَنَا مِمَّا يُحَرَّمُ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ لَا تَأْكُلُوا لُحُومَ الْحُمُرِ الْإِنْسِيَّةِ وَلَا كُلَّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنْ السِّبَاعِ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abdul Razzaq told us, Ma'mar told us, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, from Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani who said: I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: O Messenger of Allah, write for me such-and-such land in the land of Syria - the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had not yet conquered it at that time. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do you not hear what this man is saying? Abu Tha'labah said: By the One in whose hand is my soul, you will surely conquer it. He said: So he wrote it for him. He said: I said to him: O Messenger of Allah, our land is a land of hunting - shall I send my trained dog and my dog that is not trained? He said: When you send your trained dog and mention the name of Allah over it, eat whatever your trained dog catches for you, even if it kills it; and if you send your dog that is not trained and you catch up with it in time to slaughter it, then eat; and eat whatever your arrow brings back to you, even if it kills, and mention the name of Allah. He said: I said: O Prophet of Allah, our land is the land of the People of the Book, and they eat the meat of swine and drink wine - so what shall I do with their vessels and cooking pots? He said: If you find no others, wash them, cook in them, and drink. He said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, what is lawful for us of what is forbidden to us? He said: Do not eat the meat of domestic donkeys, nor any fanged beast of prey.
