Ali ibn Abdullah told us, al-Walid ibn Muslim told me, Abdul Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Jabir told me, he said: Rabi'ah ibn Yazid told me, Abu Kabshah al-Saluli told me, that he heard Sahl ibn al-Hanzaliyyah al-Ansari, a Companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say that Uyaynah and al-Aqra' asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, for something, so he ordered Mu'awiyah to write it down for them, and he did so, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sealed it and ordered it handed to the two of them. As for Uyaynah, he said: What is in it? He said: In it is what I was commanded to write. So he kissed it and tucked it into his turban, and he was the more sensible of the two men. As for al-Aqra', he said: I am carrying a document without knowing what is in it, like the document of al-Mutalammis. Mu'awiyah informed the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, of what the two had said. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went out on some errand and passed by a camel kneeling at the door of the mosque at the beginning of the day, then passed by it again at the end of the day and it was still in the same state. He said: Where is the owner of this camel? It was sought but not found. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Fear Allah regarding these animals; ride them while they are sound and ride them while they are well-fed - as if displeased just now - Indeed, whoever asks for something while he has what suffices him is only increasing for himself the Fire of Hell. They said: O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and what suffices him? He said: What gives him his morning meal or his evening meal.
