حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ عَنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ أَتَى نَاسٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا لَنَسْمَعُ مِنْ قَوْمِكَ حَتَّى يَقُولَ الْقَائِلُ مِنْهُمْ إِنَّمَا مِثْلُ مُحَمَّدٍ مِثْلُ نَخْلَةٍ نَبَتَتْ فِي كِبَاءٍ قَالَ حُسَيْنٌ الْكِبَاءُ الْكُنَاسَةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ مَنْ أَنَا قَالُوا أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ فَمَا سَمِعْنَاهُ قَطُّ يَنْتَمِي قَبْلَهَا أَلَا إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ خَلَقَ خَلْقَهُ فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ خَلْقِهِ ثُمَّ فَرَّقَهُمْ فِرْقَتَيْنِ فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ الْفِرْقَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ جَعَلَهُمْ قَبَائِلَ فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِهِمْ قَبِيلَةً ثُمَّ جَعَلَهُمْ بُيُوتًا فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِهِمْ بَيْتًا وَأَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ بَيْتًا وَخَيْرُكُمْ نَفْسًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Husayn ibn Muhammad told us: Yazid ibn Ata' told us, from Yazid, from Abdullah ibn al-Harith ibn Nawfal, from Abd al-Muttalib ibn Rabi'ah ibn al-Harith ibn Abd al-Muttalib, who said: Some people from the Ansar came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: We hear from your people such that one of them says: Muhammad is only like a palm tree that grew on a dunghill - Husayn said: al-kiba' means the refuse-heap. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: O people, who am I? They said: You are the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He said: I am Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib. He said: We had never heard him trace his lineage before that. Indeed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, created His creation, and made me from the best of His creation; then He divided them into two groups, and made me from the best of the two groups; then He made them into tribes, and made me from the best of them in tribe; then He made them into households, and made me from the best of them in household; and I am the best of you in household and the best of you in self, peace and blessings be upon him.
